Although the parks remain open, the campgrounds at Illiniwek Park & Forest Preserve and Loud Thunder Forest Preserve are now closed for the season.
Due to repairs that are being made to the spillway and Lake George  the water levels are being lowered and the boat ramp to Lake George has been temporarily closed at Loud Thunder.

The Horse trails at Loud Thunder are temporarily closed due to storm damage from July 2008.



 

The mission of the Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is: to maintain and acquire lands and facilities in Rock Island County with the intent to restore, conserve, and protect the waters, forests, and prairies for the purpose of conservation, education and recreation for its residents.

The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is governed by the Forest Preserve Commission. Today the Rock Island County Forest Preserve Commission governs six forest preserve areas totaling 2,529 acres:

Dorrance Park baseball diamond
Dorrance Forest Preserve is located in Port Byron, Illinois, along Highway 84 with access from Agnes Street. It is the smallest of the Rock Island County Forest Preserves with just 81 acres. Learn more . . .
 
 

Scenic Overlook at Illiniwek Forest Preserve

Springtime at Indian Bluff Golf Course
Indian Bluff is a forest preserve with an 18-hole golf course, located in Milan, Illinois, with 192 acres. Lake George at Loud Thunder Forest Preserve

Giraffe Exhibit at Niabi Zoo
The Niabi Zoo Forest Preserve covers 221 acres and is approximately 3 miles East of the Quad City International Airport, in Coal Valley, Illinois. The zoo sits on 55 acres and the remaining 160 acres are set aside for native flora and fauna preservation. Learn more . . .
