The Forest Preserve Office, (309) 558-3594 will begin taking shelter reservations for the 2012 season on January 3, 2012.

Campgrounds at Illiniwek and Loud Thunder Forest Preserves are closed for the season and will reopen March 30, 2012, weather permitting.

Indian Bluff Golf Course is now closed for the season and will reopen in 2012, weather permitting. Season passes for the 2012 season are currently on sale at the clubhouse. Click here for more information.

The horse trails at Loud Thunder are open to the public, weather permitting. If you have questions, please call the ranger, 309-795-1040, to check the daily status.



 

The mission of the Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is: to maintain and acquire lands and facilities in Rock Island County with the intent to restore, conserve, and protect the waters, forests, and prairies for the purpose of conservation, education and recreation for its residents.

The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District is governed by the Forest Preserve Commission. Today the Rock Island County Forest Preserve Commission governs six forest preserve areas totaling 2,529 acres:

Dorrance Park baseball diamond
Dorrance Forest Preserve is located in Port Byron, Illinois, along Highway 84 with access from Agnes Street. It is the smallest of the Rock Island County Forest Preserves with just 81 acres. Learn more . . .

Springtime at Indian Bluff Golf Course
Indian Bluff is a forest preserve with an 18-hole golf course, located in Milan, Illinois, with 192 acres. Giraffe Exhibit at Niabi Zoo
