2018 Trail Rules


Illiniwek Forest Preserve & Dorrance Forest Preserve


  1. All Rock Island County Forest Preserve District Ordinances apply to use of the park and trails.
  2. Park vehicles in designated areas only.
  3. Trails are open at 6:00a.m. and close at 10:00p.m.
  4. Trails are for hikers, joggers and bikers only. Helmets are encouraged for all bike users. Equestrians and motorized vehicles are not permitted.
  5. Do not shortcut trails. Follow and stay on the designated trail path at all times, never create new trails or construct any modifications to the trails.
  6. Only ride, hike, or run forest trails when posted “OPEN“. Trails are closed during wet periods and during freeze thaw periods to reduce erosion on trail surface. Feel free to call the park 309-203-1404 to check the status of the trails or visit FORC website for accurate up to date trail closures and openings.
  7. Pets must be leashed at all times and pet waste must be removed from the park at all times.
  8. Be safe and courteous at all times. All users must stay in control at all times. Pedestrians have the right of way. Bikers should reduce their speed and come to a complete stop and allow pedestrians to pass. Bikers must request permission to pass pedestrians on the trail.
  9. Leave no trace. Please use trash receptacles provided in parking areas. Help us keep the park clean and free of litter.
  10. Never scare wildlife. Frightened animals can injure you or others.
  11. Multi-use trails are closed to everyone when trails are closed.
